Rural Infrastructure Development Fund
Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) was introduced by Government of India during the year 1995-96 for implementation and timely completion of various rural oriented schemes/ projects in the States which were languishing for shortage of funds. The fund is placed with NABARD for providing loan assistance to the States as per the ceiling fixed by the Planning Commission of India for various States. NABARD authorities sanction schemes/ projects recommended by State Government and monitor the projects for their timely completion. The State Government make the budget provision for each project in accordance with the sanction of NABARD. Expenditure on various projects is made within the limit of the budget provision which in turn is reimbursed from NABARD as per norms of the sanction. So far Water Resources Department, R. D. Department, Works Department and Agriculture Department have availed loan assistance under various tranches of RIDF for execution of different projects like major/ medium/ minor irrigation projects, roads and bridges, installation of wells, restoration of cyclone damaged horticulture and agriculture farms etc.
